LOVELL Homes has held a sod-cutting ceremony to mark the start of construction of a new development at Central Square in Winchburgh, 12 miles from Edinburgh.

The mixed-tenure site will feature 176 homes, with 107 for private sale and 69 available for social rent.

The development is located in what will become a new central hub for the growing community of the Winchburgh village established in 1169. Central Square is opposite a new Sainsbury’s superstore and within walking distance to the marina and Auldcathie Park, as well as a new school, wellbeing centre, leisure campus, and new public parks.

Central Square will have a range of house types from three and four-bedroom homes to 2.5-storey residences with loft-style principal suites and four-storey townhouses. Lovell said each property is built with ‘meticulous attention to detail and high-quality finishes’ and ‘high energy efficiency at the core’.

Tony Rankin, regional MD for Lovell in Scotland, said, “Winchburgh is one of the most significant and most exciting place-making projects in the UK right now, and we are very proud to have such a central location in this exciting new community. Lovell is committed to modern design, energy efficiency and quality, and we are looking forward to unveiling a brand new range of homes at Winchburgh.”
