SOUTH Ayrshire Council is asking the public for their views on concept designs which outline a new primary school and early years campus in Girvan.
The new campus, which would be built in front of the existing primary school, will feature sports pitches, outdoors play areas, and accessible parking. The old building will be demolished when the new campus opens.
The designs will be shown at two public drop-in sessions. Attendees will also be able to discuss the plans with the project team at these sessions.
The sessions, which will take place at the current Girvan Primary School on Wesley Road, are on September 25 from 3:00pm – 8:00pm and October 22 from 3:00pm – 8:00pm
Councillor Martin Kilbride, buildings, housing, and environment portfolio holder at South Ayrshire Council, said, “The original school is around 70 years old and there’s a clear gulf between this school and the new schools that have been completed across South Ayrshire. Finalising the designs is an important milestone and I would encourage local people to engage with the consultation process.”
Councillor William Grant, education portfolio holder at South Ayrshire Council, added, “Following the completion of Sacred Heart Primary School, this is the next step to significantly boosting learning in Girvan and the surrounding area. The new school, would also become a hub for the local community as they will be able to access improved facilities, such as the sports pitches.”
