Supply Chain Sustainability School awards Robertson Platinum status

ROBERTSON Group has announced it has become one of the first companies in the UK to receive Platinum status from the Supply Chain Sustainability School for its commitment to reducing emissions and using sustainable construction practices across its supply chain.

The Supply Chain Sustainability School is a virtual learning platform around sustainability, which aims to upskill those working within, or aspiring to work within, the built environment.

Robertson has become a Platinum signatory of The Plant, Tools and Equipment Charter which aims to help the sector reduce greenhouse gas emissions as well as improve air quality using sustainable plant and equipment.

The Platinum accreditation builds on the Gold accreditation the business achieved in 2023. The group was assessed against four commitment areas: Minimum Standards; Engagement; Awareness and Education; and Innovation.

Working with supply chain partners to decarbonise site operations and ensure consistent reduction of emissions, Robertson revealed it was able to demonstrate its commitment to the Charter in a number of ways. These included using low-emission HVO fuel for plant equipment, powering Robertson Group projects and offices with 100% renewable energy tariffs, and trialling new technologies such as renewable generation on-site, hybrid generators and hydrogen technologies.

Graeme Hannah, director of sustainability and social impact at Robertson Group, said, “Being recognised as the first tier-one contractor to achieve Platinum, encourages us to continue making great progress toward using more sustainable plant and equipment to drive a positive change within the construction industry. Working closely with our supply chain partners, we’ve been able to make significant improvements across our operations.

“At Robertson, our purpose is to assure a sustainable future for our people, partners and planet, and we will continue to embrace innovation and best practice to continually improve the high standards that we operate to.”
