RETTENMAIER UK has announced the production, validation, and launch of what it called the first Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for cellulose fibres used in the asphalt industry.
The sustainability team at JRS (J. Rettenmaier & Söhne GmbH) has devoted itself to the research, development, and processing of high-quality organic fibres made from plant-based raw materials, making the many functions of these valuable natural substances usable for the asphalt industry.
Being UK-manufactured, VIATOP premium is said to reduce embodied carbon in comparison to imported fibres. Rettenmaier UK claimed production of the EPD demonstrates the company’s commitment to leading the market for functional asphalt additives in terms of ‘environmental responsibility, sustainability, and customer focus’.
The VIATOP premium EPD will be a resource for asphalt producers and specifiers to use in the environmental benchmarking of asphalt products.
