Expanding trade at Fife’s Banbeath Industrial Estate

HOWDENS Joinery is set to open a ‘spacious’ unit at Banbeath Industrial Estate in Leven as it continues its expansion.

The supplier of kitchens, bedrooms, doors, flooring, and joinery expands its presence to 89 depots across Scotland – six of which are in Fife.

Fife Council said the new depot will provide access to products from local stock – allowing customers to complete projects in a timely and cost-effective manner. The unit at Banbeath represents a valuable asset to Fife Council’s economic development’s business property portfolio, it added.

A refurbishment is currently underway at the unit as Howdens transforms the vacant space into a fully-equipped and operational facility. Once open, Fife Council said that the venture is expected to ‘invigorate’ the local economy and generate employment.

Blair Congalton, the project manager overseeing the Fife depot project as part of Howdens wider estates, said, “This project has been incredibly rewarding, bringing Howdens to Leven and consolidating our local presence within reach of valued customers.”

Depot manager, Ian Stevenson, added, “It’s an honour to be appointed manager of the new depot in Leven and I’m looking forward to taking on the challenge of growing and establishing the depot in Central and East Fife. This expansion shows Howdens commitment to Fife, and we have an enthusiastic team and fully stocked warehouse ready to serve our customers.”

Andrew Goulder, lead officer business property, economic development at Fife Council, commented, “We are delighted to see this unit being occupied, marking a positive step forward. It’s rewarding to watch Howdens Joinery tailoring their in-house designs to meet the needs of the local trade.”
