Clark Contracts shortlisted for two Learning Places Scotland Awards

Learning Places

CLARK Contracts has been nominated for two awards at the Learning Places Awards, which will be held at the Hilton Glasgow in November 2024.

The contractor is shortlisted in the Refurbishment of the Year category for works delivered within the James Watt North Building and the Sir Joseph Black Building Skabara Laboratory, both for the University of Glasgow.

The internal and external refurbishment of the Category A-listed James Watt North Building was ‘pivotal’ in defining innovative working methodologies and enhancing the collaborative atmosphere and increased flexibility of the space, re-establishing the building as a cornerstone of the Engineering School. The project was delivered alongside project manager AECOM; architect, Keppie Design; and structural engineer, Narro Associates.

The refurbishment of Category B-listed Sir Joseph Black Building Skabara Laboratory has created a ‘world-class’ laboratory facility for the university – with a high specification and ‘state-of-the-art’ technology, which will change the way end users carry out research and testing. The project was delivered alongside project manager, Gleeds; architect, Mosaic; and M&E engineer, Hoare Lea.

Gerry Cummins, director at Clark Contracts, said, “It is terrific that two of our projects are shortlisted in the Learning Places Scotland Awards 2024. We have a long-standing relationship with the University of Glasgow spanning since the 1990’s and are delighted that these buildings are being showcased. We look forward to attending the awards ceremony in November to find out the results.”
