VITAL improvement works are to get underway on the railway between Inverness and Elgin this weekend.
The Network Rail project will see engineers replace a bridge carrying the railway over Kinloss Burn near Forres to keep the route safe and reliable for passengers.
Engineers will also be carrying out track maintenance at Raigmore level crossing in Inverness, to help keep trains running on time through the area.
No trains will run between Inverness and Elgin Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 August, with services resuming on Monday morning.
Ross Moran, route director, Network Rail Scotland, said, “These works are being completed to keep the railway running safely and reliably for passengers on the Aberdeen – Inverness line.
“We’re urging passengers to check their journey before travelling on Sunday and we thank them for their understanding during these works.”
