JR Scaffold has announced completion of a major project at Gogar Tram Depot in Edinburgh, supporting with the over-cladding of its roof.
The project took four weeks for the complete scaffold build and consisted of the erection of approximately 2,000 square metres of scaffolding along 150 linear metres of edge protection, as well as a staircase and loading by.
The work was undertaken by the JR Scaffold team on behalf of Pro Industrial Roofing, and allowed for the complete over-cladding of the roof to tackle water ingress issues.
The project was not without its challenges as a result of its proximity to Edinburgh Airport and runway, the live electricity lines overhead, and the moving trams operating throughout the works.
The four-strong scaffold team has now handed the site back over to the contractors.
Brian Keaney, contracts supervisor for JR Scaffold, led the project for the business. He said, “We are very pleased to have worked on the Gogar Tram depot – Edinburgh’s tram system is synonymous with our capital city, so it was great to see it all in action. This project was challenging from a scaffold perspective as each section required its own permit and we had to work to very tight deadlines due to the strict isolation times for the electricity to be turned off, but we’re delighted with the job we have handed over to our client.”
