TWO friends behind an innovative contact tracing device that was used across the globe during the Covid pandemic have expanded their offering into a new wearable device designed to proactively prevent workplace accidents.
Spacebands was launched by childhood friends Ronan Finnegan and Harry Kimberley-Bowen from their flat share in Bristol during the Covid pandemic, with the initial contact tracing device now evolving into a watch.
After extensive customer feedback and £1.3 million in funding, Spacebands is now launching the new wearable devices that continuously monitor for hazards, such as loud noises or unauthorised access zones, alerting workers in real-time to potential dangers.
Event data is saved for analysis by health and safety managers through the Spacebands dashboard and mobile app. This removes guesswork from safety protocols, allowing for data-driven decision making, the founders explained.
Spacebands’ technology also identifies trends and patterns in accident-prone areas, enabling managers to take preventative action, which the company said translates to a safer, more efficient workplace, with reduced accidents, improved productivity, and significant cost savings.
