Story Scotland celebrates 10-year anniversary

THE Scottish civil engineering division of Story Contracting is celebrating its 10th anniversary this month.

Since its inception in 2014, Story Scotland has delivered over 500 projects – including the award-winning installation of a 5,000 tonne railway bridge at Ravenscraig, replacing the life-expired Invercoe Bridge, and 14 access for all schemes at railway stations across Scotland.

Last year, Story Scotland was named as Rail Supplier of the Year at the Scottish Transport Awards for its contribution to the railway network and its passengers. This contribution to the industry was further solidified with a recent appointment by Network Rail to deliver building and civils projects across Scotland’s Railway for Control Period 7 (CP7).

In addition to the rail and transportation sectors, Story Scotland is also currently delivering a number of energy projects – including the new energy from waste facility in Irvine, which will eventually generate power for 30,000 homes. The firm is also delivering enabling works for an extension at Bhlaraidh Windfarm in the Highlands and infrastructure for battery energy storage systems across the UK.

Beyond its construction achievements, Story Scotland said it is dedicated to making a positive impact on the communities it works within. Through various community engagement initiatives and partnerships, the team has supported local charity groups, invested in 67 graduates and apprentices, and provided career development opportunities across Scotland.

Further to this, the firm said its success is a testament to its ‘talented’ team of over 230 colleagues, before adding that it takes pride in its diverse and skilled workforce, whose commitment to the company moto of ‘doing it right!’ has been a driving force behind the achievements of the past decade.

John MacArthur, MD of Story Scotland, commented, “Marking a decade of Story Scotland is a momentous occasion for us all. It’s a testament to the sheer hard work and dedication of our team, our long-standing supply chain partners, and the trust our clients have placed in us.

“As we celebrate this milestone, we reaffirm our commitment to investing in our people – our most important asset and to delivering excellence for our clients and our communities in every project we undertake.

“Personally, I couldn’t be any prouder of my team, each and every one of them has played an important part in making Story Scotland the business it is today.”
