TWO local primary school pupils have named Tulloch Homes upcoming development in Newtonmore.

Isaac, 10, and Sophia, 11, both of Newtonmore Primary School took inspiration from the nearby River Spey and rural location of the village with their suggestion of ‘Spey Green’.

Tulloch homes recently engaged with the pupils at the school setting them the challenge of naming the new development, which is set to launch this summer.

Students considered the environment surrounding the development and the history of the village to inspire their suggestions and Tulloch Sales and marketing director, Jo McLaren, had a tough job selecting just one name for the new development.

She said, “It was so clear how much time and effort the pupils at Newtonmore have put into the naming our new development and we were spoiled for choice with some fantastic suggestions. It was really hard to pick just one name for the development, but I just loved the name Spey Green – Isaac and Sophia did a fantastic job.

“Spey Green is a lovely nod to the Spey River which sweeps past the village, and Newtonmore has a beautiful green backdrop, so the name is very apt for the location. Thank you to all of the students who worked hard on selecting a name.”

Located off Perth Road, the development will include a range of one, two, and three bedroom energy efficient homes – including apartments and bungalows – and is well connected to Newtonmore train station, the golf club, local shops and cafes and less than an hour’s drive to Inverness. The first homes are expected to be occupied early next year, Tulloch Homes said.
