Applications open for built environment scholarship funding

APPLICATIONS are open for Built Environment – Smarter Transformation’s (BE-ST) Accelerate to Zero Postgraduate Scholarship Fund.

The organisation is funding postgraduate students who can help solve climate change, create smarter, healthier places and develop a workforce and culture that supports this new future. The Master’s scholarship programme has been supporting students since 2017.

Students taking part will benefit from real-life work experience by engaging with an industry partner as part of their studies as well as mentorship and support from experts across BE-ST, industry and BE-ST’s online Master’s resources.

There are up to 30 places with £6,530 funding available for each eligible Full Time Equivalent Master’s student currently enrolled or applying for a Master’s within partner universities, including Edinburgh Napier University, Glasgow Caledonian University, University of Dundee, Glasgow School of Art, University of West Scotland, and more. Part-time students can also apply.

BE-ST is looking for applications from students from any discipline as long as they have an ‘innovative idea or solution’ that can be applied directly to the built environment and a desire to work with an industry partner.

Kaye Keenan, impact manager at BE-ST said, “This programme is introducing a fresh batch of highly skilled, enthusiastic thinkers and the potential leaders of tomorrow into the construction industry.”

Oliver Cooney, group sustainability analyst, CALA Group and A-Z Scholarship industry partner, added, “This is the second consecutive year CALA has collaborated with BE-ST and its scholarship students and so far, the journey has been nothing but beneficial and rewarding. Opportunities like these are why we would highly recommend to our peers in the industry to engage with scholarship programmes like this. This partnership is one we hope to continue indefinitely into the future.”

Only Scottish students are eligible. Deadline for applications is 30th November 2024. For more details, visit https://be-st.build/accelerate-to-zero/skills-competencies/accelerate-to-zero-postgraduate-scholarship/
