SPRINGFIELD Partnerships, the affordable housing arm of Springfield Properties, has submitted plans to West Lothian Council for the build of 47 new homes in Livingston.
The brownfield site, just off Ladywell East Road, has lain vacant since Cedarbank School relocated in 2022 leaving the derelict building an ‘eyesore’ within the community. The proposal plans to transform the area and includes plans for two-bedroom apartments with ample green space, an informal seating area, parking with provision for EV charging, and a large bike store.
The affordable homes will include ‘innovative’ heating systems to help keep running costs low for residents and the development encourages active travel with strong walking, jogging, and cycle links to nearby shops and amenities within the wider Ladybank area in line with the Scottish Government 20-minute neighbourhoods’ initiative.
Springfield Partnerships MD, Tom Leggeat, said, “Scotland is crying out for more homes, and we are pleased to submit our plans for 47 new, affordable, high quality and energy efficient homes that will revitalise this derelict site within a residential area of Livingston.
“These affordable apartments would provide accessible living to local people who need it the most and in an area where all the local infrastructure needed to support them already exists. We are looking forward to receiving feedback from the Council in the coming months.”
