Barratt purchases Network Rail site for new housing development

BARRATT Homes has successfully purchased a large new site in Livingston from Network Rail Property.

Site One at Appleton Parkway extends to 15.8 acres and will deliver 132 ‘much needed’ new homes with 25% of these being affordable in a ‘high demand’ area of Livingston.

Robin Dobson, group property director at Network Rail Property, said, “Partnering with major housebuilders like Barratt is central to our development and regeneration strategy as we unlock previously underutilised railway land. It is essential in ensuring we are able to strategically assist in delivering new homes and communities across Great Britain. We look forward to building on this partnership going forward.”

Nicholas Wright, development director at Barratt Developments East Scotland, added, “Livingston has been an extremely popular location for us over the past five years, with Barratt building more than 400 new homes in the area. The addition of Appleton Parkway will help continue our investment in West Lothian’s communities, joining our current sites in the area including Calderwood and Winchburgh.

“We’ve worked hand-in-hand with the Network Rail project team over the past two and a half years to bring this site forward and are pleased to be launching 99 private and 33 affordable homes – ranging from bungalows, terraces, semi-detached and detached properties.”

Danielle Corker of Savills commented, “This is an ideal site for Barratt. It is already an established and successful residential enclave, and will be very popular with house buyers.”
