LARKHALL-based Complete Weed Control has extended its deal with waste and resource management firm FCC Environment for a further five years.

The weed control, ground maintenance and tree management specialist recently completed a three-year contract with FCC. The new agreement means Complete Weed Control will be wholly responsible for all landscape maintenance within the entirety of FCC’s seven landfill sites in Scotland.

It will involve grass cutting, tree works, weed control, and all other aspects of landscaping.

Keith Gallacher, director of Complete Weed Control operations in Scotland, said, “FCC Environment is a major organisation which owns and operates more than 200 recycling, treatment and disposal facilities across the UK, and the opportunities involved in partnering with them are remarkable. It was a great recognition of the services we had previously provided at FCC’s facilities in Scotland to be asked to continue our work with them for the period from 2024 to 2028.

“Our proven record of delivering on time and in a safe and competent manner has again stood us in good stead. We are proud to play a part in FCC’s contribution to the environment and the creation of sustainable energy from waste.”

FCC minimises the amount of waste that ends up in landfill by transforming it into valuable resources wherever possible. It employs 2,400 people and each year recycles 1.6 million tonnes of waste.

Anthony Porter, senior engineering and restoration manager at FCC Environment, added, “It was not a difficult decision to renew the partnership we have established with Complete Weed Control, as they have provided us with seamless service over the past three years. Where possible, FCC likes to ally with local companies in the regions in which it operates, in line with its commitment to the circular economy, and Complete Weed Control has consistently excelled in safe, efficient delivery.”
