OVER 3,500 homes have now been connected to Aberdeen’s district heating network, the city’s local authority has announced.
As well as 3,631 residential properties, some 30 public buildings have also been connected to the network, with the news coming in a roundup of the year’s activity to support Aberdeen in its journey to net zero and climate resilience.
The update provided to members of Aberdeen City Council’s net zero, environment, and transport committee today also confirmed the completion of the South College Street development, which provides more opportunities for active travel.
Elsewhere, the Reuse Shop at Hazlehead Recycling Centre launched an initiative to give away paint that was donated to the store. Animations featuring two seagulls named Sam and Dave were also created in a bid to engage with children and young people on placemaking projects.
Aberdeen City Council co-leader, councillor Ian Yuill, said, “Climate change is happening now and it’s vital that we work with partners to reduce the impact.
“It’s important to review the action taken to date, and there is much more to do to meet our net zero ambitions.”
