Hydrock adds to senior team in Scotland with double appointment

Hydrock has bolstered its sustainability capabilities with the appointment of Paul Quinn and Peter Hendry, both well-known figures within Scotland’s property market.

The engineering design, energy and sustainability consultancy said the strategic hires underline the ambition to support clients to achieve their sustainability goals and build ‘purpose-driven, energy-efficient’ buildings.

With ‘deep experience’ of the real estate sector, Paul Quinn has made the move from Troup Bywaters + Anders to lead and grow Hydrock’s MEP consulting team in Scotland, which is helping to shape buildings by optimising the performance of their building services systems.

Paul Quinn, director of MEP, said, said, “I’m really excited to be part of the Hydrock’s multi-disciplinary team in Scotland, working alongside brilliant minds in smart energy and sustainability, nuclear and fire engineering. Together, we’re tackling the built environment’s toughest challenges head on. I’m bringing my own passion for low carbon and passive design to our collective offer, and I can’t wait to champion the digitalisation that’s transforming our industry.”

Working across Hydrock’s offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow, Paul brings 25 years’ experience in electrical building services and infrastructure design and construction in numerous sectors, including performing arts, commercial office, listed buildings, data centres and hospitality.

Paul has worked with The R&A to develop proposals for its new staff HQ, located within the St Andrews West development. His experience includes utilising benchmarking standards such as BREEAM, Passivhaus and EnerPHit to deliver new build and refurbished projects.

Peter Hendry, a senior sustainability consultant, has joined Hydrock’s Scottish team to shape pathways to decarbonisation and net zero for clients with property assets.

Based in Glasgow, Peter is a specialist in BREEAM, having spent the last six years as a technical auditor and latterly as certification lead with the Building Research Establishment (BRE). He is qualified as both a BREEAM and NABERS UK assessor.

At the BRE, Peter was responsible for the quality of BREEAM technical audits, and the recruitment, training and expansion of the team.
