BTR developer thrilled with Glasgow project’s award success

BUILD-to-rent (BTR) developer and operator PLATFORM_ has expressed its joy at winning a Scottish Property Award.

PLATFORM_, in joint venture partnership with Northwood Investors LLC, triumphed in the BTR Development of the Year category for its landmark project in Glasgow.

Reaching practical completion in November 2023, PLATFORM_ in Glasgow is the largest BTR scheme in Scotland and located between the International Financial Services District and Finnieston, offering 498 new homes.

Standing as one of the city’s tallest buildings at 20 storeys, the BTR neighbourhood is set across four blocks with a selection of studio, one, two, and three-bedroom apartments.

PLATFORM_ features amenities including a gym, landscaped courtyard, two roof terraces, private dining room, cinema room and co-working facilities all included in monthly rental rates. Residents can manage their homes using smart technology like the PLATFORM_ Portal app, keyless entry, and remote utility monitoring.

Designed by Keppie Design, and delivered by contractor, GRAHAM, the wider project team included Axiom Project Services Limited, Troup Bywaters + Anders, and Thomas & Adamson.

This latest recognition follows other industry award wins for PLATFORM_ and the joint venture partnership over recent months. This includes the Best Property Development and Management Platform award at the BUILD Real Estate and Property Awards, and the partnership winning Residential Development of the Year at the Cardiff Property Awards.

Jean-Marc Vandevivere, CEO at PLATFORM_, said, “PLATFORM_ in Glasgow is our first development to complete in Scotland and we are incredibly proud for it to receive best-in-class status at the highly coveted Scottish Property Awards. This recognition is a testament to the attention to detail evident throughout the development, both internally and externally, that has enhanced an iconic riverside location and importantly provided much-needed new homes for the city.

“The excellent collaboration between the project team has resulted in a stand-out development that sets a new benchmark for modern-day living. The win at the Scottish Property Awards adds to our string of recent achievements at industry events, underlining the quality and positive impact PLATFORM_ is creating within the BTR sector and local communities.”

James Seago, VP at Northwood Investors, added, “PLATFORM_ in Glasgow is the third scheme to complete as part of our joint venture partnership, with Sheffield in lease-up and Cardiff now fully stabilised, bringing the total portfolio to over 1,000 operational units. We are delighted to have received this recognition at the Scottish Property Awards, a testament to the quality of the sustainable, purpose-built rental product delivered by the joint venture and PLATFORM_’s operational expertise.

“We continue to see strong demand for this product in the undersupplied markets we target and look forward to stabilising our schemes in Glasgow and Sheffield over the coming months.”

The scheme has achieved the Silver Active Energy standard by incorporating rooftop photovoltaics and the use of air source heat pumps. These initiatives enable 100% of apartments to achieve an EPC B rating.

The development also features two commercial units at ground level which will provide convenience retail options and additional amenities. Electrical vehicle charging points and bike storage are also available in communal spaces.
