Ashwood Scotland co-founder announces retirement

Archie Meikle

ASHWOOD Scotland has announced that one of its original founders, Archie Meikle, will officially retire from the business on March 31.

A quarter of a century after starting Ashwood from a two-person office in Livingston, Mr Meikle has been involved in over 500 projects – including the development and refurbishment of some iconic structures, such as West Register House in Edinburgh and the award-winning Scotstoun House, South Queensferry.

Ashwood’s turnover has grown to £12 million with over 85 staff now employed across the company at its headquarters in Livingston.

Commenting on his retirement, Mr Meikle said, “I am very proud of the whole Ashwood family, the reputation we have built and the success we have had. To everyone who has been part of our business and to all our customers who have trusted us with their business, thank you for everything.”

David Charman, Ashwood’s co-founder and MD, commented, “It has been an absolute pleasure working alongside Archie. On behalf of all of us, I thank him wholeheartedly for his dedication, leadership and exceptional hard work over the last twentyfive years. He is leaving the business so well positioned for the future.”
