NORTH Ayrshire Council has appointed RJ McLeod to carry out enabling works on the build of the new Ardrossan Community Campus.
Enabling works at the site is due to begin shortly and will run alongside the separate site remediation works, being led by Sanctus Ltd, which began in October – with construction work expected to get underway early next year.
RJ McLeod’s work will involve the installation of a revetment, creation of a new spine road and coastal path, earth movement, and other works to ensure the site is ready for the build of the new community campus.
Scheduled to open in 2026, Ardrossan Community Campus will be built to Passivhaus standards, with Morgan Sindall appointed last year to complete the design of the campus.
The facility will comprise an early years, primary, and secondary school with additional support needs. Also featuring shared community facilities, the campus will boast a library, learning hub, and indoor sports facilities – which include a swimming pool, sports hall, gym, dance studio, and outdoor sport facilities.
Councillor Tony Gurney, cabinet member for green environment and economy at North Ayrshire Council, said, “We are delighted to be able to confirm that RJ McLeod have been appointed and look forward to enabling works starting on site over the coming months.
“It is good to be able to provide regular updates and this is a significant milestone for this project. These works are not only critical for the development of the campus but also the wider regeneration programme and further phases of development.
“We will continue to provide updates when we have them as we edge closer to delivering what is such an exciting development for the community.”
