NAYLOR Drainage has announced it will be investing a further £2 million in its Scottish manufacturing business over the next three years in a move the firm said underlines its commitment to providing a ‘market-leading and local’ service to its Scottish customers.
Situated on a 12-acre site in Methil, Fife, Naylor Drainage Scotland has already expanded its manufacturing operations significantly over the last three years and currently makes more than 40% of the products it provides to the Scottish market with other products being made at the firm’s South Yorkshire site.
This latest investment will further extend the site’s manufacturing capacity, enabling the business to be more self-sufficient, make new product ranges on site, create new jobs, and support an ambitious growth strategy which aims to increase turnover by more than 40% in the next three years. The aim is to have the new line fully commissioned in August 2024.
Jim Crawford, MD of Naylor Drainage Scotland, said, “Over the last 20 years the business has continuously improved its presence in Scotland and has taken great pride in providing high quality products and local customer service. This investment will enable us to further expand our manufacturing capabilities, reduce our carbon emissions and provide an even better quality of service direct to our customers. It underlines our commitment to both the Scottish market and to Scottish manufacturing.”
The investment programme at Naylor Drainage in Methil will include the purchase of a new Hegler extrusion line to enable shorter lead times and create additional manufacturing capacity. The new extrusion line will also deliver energy and C02 savings.
The site has already added EN1401 underground drainage and preformed surface water inspection chambers and will be enhancing its offering further with a twin wall sewer pipe and Class 1 PVC ducting during 2024.
The intention is to have more than 50% of all products provided to customers manufactured in Scotland. Additional products will be made at Naylor Drainage in South Yorkshire which is also undergoing a major programme of investment to support future growth.
Jim Crawford added, “As a former customer, I understand how important it is to be able to provide the full range of products required by our local customers and this investment will enable us to become the only Scottish based drainage manufacturer that can do this.
“We believe in long-term relationships and with our experienced team we believe that Naylor Drainage Scotland can build upon its reputation for being straightforward, easy-to-deal-with and agile, and provide a truly market leading service across the country.”
