MILLER Homes is donating £10,000 to community groups near its Scottish developments to help support 17 local schools, charities, foodbanks, and other causes in need.

The housebuilder’s Community Fund, which is now in its second year and third round of funding, invites applications for funding from charities and community groups across the country.

Some of the groups being supported during this round of funding club include Loud n Proud, Paisley; West Dunbartonshire Community Foodshare, Dumbarton; Whitecraig Primary School, East Lothian; and All Stroked Out, Grangemouth.

David McGrath, divisional MD for Miller Homes Scotland, said, “Over the past year, the Community Fund has become an important part of Miller Homes and has helped us support the communities in which we’re building – something that we’re incredibly passionate about. It has been so rewarding seeing the difference the funding has made to local groups and we’re pleased to be able to help out even more people as we progress into the second year of the initiative.”

Tommy McGrory, manager at Loud n Proud, Paisley added, “We’re a youth music charity at the heart of our Paisley community, doing our best to make an impact on young people’s confidence, social practice, concentration, creativity and general outlook on life by encouraging people to achieve their dreams. Miller Homes’ generosity will help us equip the recording rooms, allowing young people to get the opportunity to professionally produce their music and give podcast recording a go. Our vision is to build a music hub that can help young people into employment within the music industry, and we’re thankful for the funding from our local homebuilder in Paisley.”

Viv Short, headteacher at Whitecraig Primary in East Lothian, commented, “The generous donation from Miller Homes will go a long way towards helping us fund essential resources for the school and update our reading materials. It’s been brilliant working with Miller Homes during the development of the Carberry Grange site near the school and it definitely feels like they’re part of the Whitecraig community.”
