Capital residents urged to have their say on heat decarbonisation plans

TIME is running out for Edinburgh residents to have a say on plans to decarbonise the heat supply of buildings and improve energy efficiency in Scotland’s capital.

The Edinburgh Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy (LHEES) and Delivery Plan consultation closes on Sunday 3 March and residents can take part online. The City of Edinburgh Council said the results will be used to build on the engagement and consultation carried out to date.

The Edinburgh LHEES and Delivery Plan sets out an approach to improve the energy efficiency and decarbonise the heat supply of buildings. It addresses all buildings in the city, not just the local authority’s own building stock.

Council Leader Cammy Day said, “My thanks go to everyone who has shared their views on our exciting plans to decarbonise the heat supply of buildings and improve energy efficiency. I’d like to encourage all residents in Edinburgh to have their say before the consultation closes in a less than a week.

“The Edinburgh Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy, and Delivery Plan, represents the next step in our efforts to become a net zero city by 2030. While our goal is ambitious, we need to take drastic action to address the climate and nature emergencies.”
