EDINBURGH and Kinross-based architectural practice, Studio LBA, has announced four senior level promotions within its team.
Claire Metivier, who joined the practice in 2023, has been promoted to associate director. As an examiner for the architectural charterships, Claire places ‘huge importance’ on investing into the wider profession, as well as the more junior team within LBA.
Studio LBA explained that Claire’s technical knowledge and eagerness to be consistently reviewing and improving the quality of its output throughout the lifecycle of a project, ensures progression and purpose within the practice.
Elsewhere in the business, Samantha Smith and John Cameron have been promoted from senior project architects to associates. Both joined the practice in 2017 as graduates, with Studio LBA saying it is ‘delighted’ that they have progress through the ranks to its senior level team.
Samantha has been leading a team on a masterplanning project at St Andrews west for 100 new homes, which is currently well underway on site. The firm explained that she is committed to expanding her professional network and promoting the practice and has established a successful young professionals networking event to help grow existing relationships and form new ones.
John has secured a number of new clients and existing projects over the past year, with Studio LBA detailing how he has excelled taking on the role of lead consultant on large complex conservation projects across Edinburgh’s world heritage site.
Calum Ward has also been promoted to the role of senior project architect. Calum, who joined the practice in 2022, is described by the firm as an ‘exceptional’ designer and architect, with experience working on large scale commercial urban masterplanning projects. This breadth of commercial experience and knowledge is fundamental to support LBA in its plans to continue to secure larger mixed use masterplan projects, it added.
Lynsay Bell Manson, MD and founder of Studio LBA, said, “The recent promotions are a reflection of the quality of mentoring and investment we put into our graduates and wider team. Continual professional growth and fulfilment within the team is personally so important to me and is actively encouraged. These promotions now set the foundations for our next cycle of growth and expansion and the continued success of the practice. Claire, Samantha, John and Calum have all invested so much into the practice, their clients and the team, these promotions are well deserved.”
