Careys is to start work on the next phase of the Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm build on the East Lothian coast.
Contracted by Siemens Energy, the civil engineering contractor will be responsible for the build of the site infrastructure and onshore substation – including its associated buildings – in preparation for the arrival of the wind farm’s electrical equipment.
Initial groundworks were completed in December, with the upcoming phase of work to see the creation of further drainage at the site, as well as the laying of concrete bases, construction of internal roads and bunds, landscaping, and the erection of steel-framed buildings. Aberdeen firm, Innovair, will take regular aerial drone surveys of the site to monitor the progress of the project.
Once complete, the wind farm will be one of the largest in Scotland and will generate enough green energy to power the equivalent of half the homes in Scotland.
