ALLIED Surveyors Scotland has been appointed by the owners of Eskmills, East Lothian’s largest business campus, to bolster its letting team.

The firm revealed it will work in a joint agency capacity alongside existing agent Cuthbert White to source and secure tenants for the heritage site on the banks of the River Esk in Musselburgh.

“Allied Surveyors are very well known across East Lothian so we hope their expertise and connections will assist us in our quest to further grow the Eskmills community,” said Eskmills owner Oliver Stephen.

2023 was described as a ‘stellar’ year for the campus with 27 deals completed including lettings to Edinburgh Gas and Renewables and Gensource.

The campus is offering a range of flexible office suites from 140 sq ft to 4,000 sq ft across its Hercules House, Stuart House and Archibald Hope House buildings. It also provides an onsite restaurant, gym, bakery and conference centre.

Allied Surveyor’s director of commercial agency (east), Iain Mercer, added, “At 105,000 sq ft of lettable space, Eskmills accounts for around 15% of East Lothian’s office stock, so we are delighted to be on board and look forward to adding value to the team’s efforts.”

The origins of Eskmills date back to 1812 where its factory complex was once the world’s largest manufacturer of fishing nets under the stewardship of J. W. Stuart. The site closed in 1979 and fell into disrepair until the Victorian core of the complex was restored and converted into business space by new owners in the 1980s.
