BALFOUR Beatty has appointed Gabby Costigan MBE as a non-executive director with effect from March 8.
Following the group’s AGM on May 9, she will succeed Stuart Doughty CMG as chair of the safety & sustainability committee, as Stuart steps down from the board following nine-years as a non-executive director.
Gabby is an aeronautical engineer with a diverse international career including 21 years in the Australian Army. She was previously CEO of the logistics business, Linfox International Group. In 2017, she joined BAE Systems plc as CEO of BAE Systems Australia before being promoted to her current role of group MD, business development and a member of the executive committee.
Lord Charles Allen of Kensington, CBE and chair of Balfour Beatty, said, “I would like to thank Stuart for the significant contribution he has made to Balfour Beatty during his nine years as non-executive director and chair of the safety & sustainability committee. Under his stewardship, the company has made significant improvements to its health and safety performance and in advancing its sustainability endeavours.
“I am delighted that Gabby has agreed to join us.  Her experience of large, complex international organisations and significant experience in regulated markets make her a strong addition to Balfour Beatty’s board.”
Gabby Costigan MBE added, “From military service to work in the defence industry, I’ve always been motivated by work that makes a meaningful difference. I look forward to contributing my leadership and operational experience in support of Balfour Beatty’s very real contribution to global economies and communities.”
