A new monthly networking event for sustainability professionals operating across Scotland’s built environment and construction sector has been created to boost the industry’s ambitions to transition to net zero.
The Sustainabuild Scotland Breakfast Club will launch in Edinburgh in January. Each month will have a different focus and will feature expert speakers who will lead conversations on topics including green skills, sustainable construction methods, and the role of renewables in the housing sector.
The aim is to provide a regular opportunity to learn from sustainable businesses, share knowledge with other attendees, and network with peers to forge valuable partnerships and develop new projects in this space.
Commencing on Wednesday January 24 from 9am to 11am at Patina in Edinburgh Park, the first session will have the overarching theme of ‘tackling the shortage of green skills in the built environment sector’.
Matt Colgan, director for Sustainabuild Scotland, said, “This is a ‘make or break’ decade for Scotland’s built environment and construction sector on its transition to net zero. Great progress has been made to date and we are already leading the way in many areas – however there is a long way to go and it’s vital that every business keeps sustainability at the forefront of everything they do if the sector is to have any chance of meeting Scotland’s ambitious net zero targets.
“Sustainabuild will bring Scotland’s key players together, to network and share learnings, build partnerships and most importantly – share best practice and find solutions to these challenges.”
The event will be hosted at Patina, an artisan bakery and restaurant with event space at Edinburgh Park. Designed with sustainability in mind, Patina uses smart technology to control its energy usage, and is powered by renewable energy sources.
