Lochmaben roof tile manufacturer donates £37,000 to charity this Christmas

LOCHMABEN-based manufacturer Russell Roof Tiles has revealed it is donating £37,000 to five local charities this Christmas.

The announcement made by MD, Andrew Hayward, during a presentation hosted at its site, which came as a surprise to the charity representatives present, with each charity receiving £7,400.

The charities include D&G Canine Rescue Centre, Veterans Garden, The First Base Agency, Moffat Mountain Rescue and Castle Loch Lochmaben Community Trust.

Andrew Hayward said, “It’s been a record-breaking year of fundraising for us and despite the cost-of-living challenges, we’ve managed to double the target we set back in January. I couldn’t have done it without the team, who have put in the work and volunteered their time and money to be involved.”

Over the last 12 months, the Lochmaben team has taken part in a variety of challenges for the company’s Give4Good initiative, with the most daunting being a 10,000ft tandem skydive which raised £4,000.

At the start of the year, the company set its sights on raising £40,000 for its Give4Good initiative, which aims to support 12 charities, five close to their Lochmaben site, five in Burton on Trent, plus two international ones.

Andrew and his team have rallied together and doubled their initial target, raising £80,000, making it the largest sum ever raised in a year for charity. Andrew added, “It was an honour to present to our five Lochmaben charities and I’m proud to be able to support those organisations so they can continue the vital work they do for our community.”
