WORK is underway on a redevelopment project in Paisley which will result in 48 new flats for social rent in the town’s East Lane.
The JR Group commenced works on the brownfield site of the former Arnold Clark garage which has since been demolished, on behalf of Wheatley Group.
The area has seen a lot of redevelopment in recent years with a host of new homes and commercial units opening up. The JR Group revealed it will utilise its many divisions to deliver the project including JR Scaffold Services, JR Specialist Services, Sprinkler Scotland Ltd and DC Timber.
The aim is to breathe new life into the derelict site and provide a mix of two and three-bedroom homes across four different apartment types including four wheelchair accessible homes on the ground floor. Works will also include soft landscaping and parking provision.
Andrew Dallas, projects director for The JR Group, said, “It is great to break ground on the site at East Lane which has lain derelict since the closure of the car garage previously at the location. The plans transform this brownfield site into an attractive place to live, featuring energy efficient homes and we look forward to progressing this vision on behalf of our partners Wheatley Group and Loretto Housing.”
Frank McCafferty, Wheatley’s group director of repairs and assets, added, “We’re delighted to be working with our partners at The JR Group and Renfrewshire Council on this development and we are looking forward to seeing these much-needed homes for social rent take shape.”
