Developer supports the Clutha Trust and Glasgow artists

MORE than 50 aspiring performers will have the opportunity to take to the stage at Glasgow’s Winterfest this month thanks to the support of property developer, Dandara Living.

The company has joined forces with the Clutha Trust to enable talented singers to perform at the Community Stages in George Square and St Enoch for the duration of Winterfest, which runs until January 7.  The singers are given a daily spot and the opportunity to perform in front of a packed audience.

Dandara is also supporting the Clutha Trust to provide a festive dinner and entertainment at the Clutha Bar to around 40 families and people who feel isolated on Christmas Day. Clutha staff have generously given up their time to volunteer at the event.

Zoe Sharpe, senior development manager, Dandara Living, said, “The Clutha Bar is synonymous with great Glasgow entertainment and has always been a huge supporter of local bands and performers. For budding artists to have the chance to perform in front of a live and enthusiastic crowd is a great opportunity and we’re delighted to be involved.  Winterfest is a magical city-wide family-friendly event, but we are very much aware that it’s also a difficult time for some.

“Community and tackling social issues are at the heart of everything the Trust gets involved in and these are equally important values to our business so we’re very pleased to be working together with them to provide positive, memorable experiences for people in need this Christmas.”

Alan Crossan, founder of the Clutha Trust and owner of the Clutha Bar, added, “We’re grateful to Dandara Living for their generosity as we know although a magical time of year it’s also a time of hardship for many grappling with the cost of living. We’re delighted to be able to offer some help on Christmas Day as well as continue our ongoing support to the city’s budding singers and musicians.”

Dandara Living specialises in developing and operating build to rent (BTR) apartment buildings. Its Granary Quay development at Glasgow Harbour will provide 391 new homes and the company also has a further development proposed at the city’s Anderston Quay.  Subject to planning, City Wharf will feature nearly 500 homes for rent and 490 student apartments alongside units for commercial use.
