Aberdeen pupils impress in housebuilder’s Christmas card competition

PUPILS at Countesswells Primary School, Aberdeen have been designing their own Christmas cards as part of Barratt Developments’ festive competition.

The winning drawing is being transformed into physical packs for residents at the housebuilder’s site. Ten-year-old Amy Krauze was crowned champion for her festive design, winning a £50 Smyths Voucher. The rest of the children who took part were awarded selection boxes for their efforts.

Amy sketched a colourful Christmas tree card which wishes readers a merry Christmas, and includes the message” ‘If you do good actions, good things will happen’. Pupils from the school’s after school club took part in the competition.

The cards will be displayed on the sales office windows at both Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes for the community to enjoy.

David Palmer, MD at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Scotland, said, “We were so impressed by the artistic talent of the pupils at Countesswells School. The Christmas card designs were very creative, each with a lovely festive design, which made the judging a very tough decision.

“Amy’s drawings really captured the spirit of Christmas, and we’re extremely proud to showcase her card this year. A huge well done to all involved – we hope the competition has helped spread a little magic within the local community ahead of Christmas.”

Paula Rough, headteacher at Countesswells, said, “The pupils at our after school club loved taking part in this Christmas competition hosted by Barratt Developments. It was a chance for them to express some creativity and get into the Christmas spirit. We’re very proud of our winner Amy and all of those who took part for their fantastic designs and we’d like to thank Barratt Developments for hosting this competition – our pupils were thrilled with their prizes.”
