MORRISON Construction is to lead the build of a proposed new primary school in  Winchburgh.

West Lothian Council has validated an application for the new school, with work set to begin in 2024 if plans are approved.

Hub South East will deliver the school on behalf of the local authority, with jmarchitects behind the design. This is the same project team which delivered the region’s Holy Family Primary and Calderwood Primary.

The build of the school, which will have an initial capacity of 231 pupils and 42 early years places, will be fully funded by developer contributions and see pupils attending the school from August 2025. The flexible design of the school will allow for future expansions, if required.

West Lothian Council’s executive councillor for education, Andrew McGuire, said, “It’s fantastic to see that plans are progressing well for the delivery of another superb new school for the Hawkhill area of Winchburgh.

“With more families choosing to make their home in growing parts of West Lothian such as Winchburgh, it’s essential we have the schools in place to meet the demand for places.”
