PUPILS at Kirkliston Primary School have received a special gift for the annual Christmas Fair from housebuilder Dandara East Scotland.
The firm donated £500 to buy an i-pad, which will be the star prize in the raffle at the event being held on December 2. The money will also be used to provide games and activities.
The fair is the biggest fundraiser of the year for Edinburgh’s largest primary school, which has over 630 pupils. The event includes a tombola, festive games, elves’ crafty workshop, market stalls and refreshments.
Louise Collingwood of Kirkliston Primary School’s parent council, who organise the fair, said, “We are so grateful to Dandara for their generous donation, the raffle is our biggest money generator and the highlight of the fundraising calendar. It’s vitally important that we are able to provide the school with valuable additional resources for the children and support in areas where funding is needed to help our families such as the cost of school trips, the breakfast club and clothing bank.
“Money is tight for so many people as a result of the cost of living crisis and we want to ensure no child misses out on activities due to financial limitations.”
Tony Williamson, sales director Dandara East Scotland, added, “We are building nearby at Foxhall Gait and lots of our residents have children at the school, so we wanted to do our bit to support the community in Kirkliston. The parent council do a terrific job organising these fundraising events and they are to be congratulated for giving up so much of their own time to help the teachers and support staff to create a great and inclusive learning environment for the pupils.”
Dandara also recently lent its support to Kirkliston South Queensferry Football Club, sponsoring new kit for the 2019’s team. The housebuilder is selling new homes at Foxhall Gait in Kirkliston, where a collection of two, three, four and five-bedroom properties are available.
