Hillington contractor goes for gold with latest accreditation

PACIFIC Building has been awarded another Gold accreditation by The 5% Club.

The honour is the Hillington contractor’s second gold accolade and recognises the company’s contribution to the development of all employees through ‘earn & learn’ schemes including apprenticeships, graduate programmes and sponsored course placements for students.

From a membership list of 900 companies across the UK, Pacific was just one of the 120 employers who met the Gold criteria in the Club’s 2023-24 Employer Audit Scheme.

The 5% Club is a movement of employers who are inspired to take positive action for increased, inclusive and accessible workplace training for all and who commit to having at least 5% of the workforce in earn and learn positions.

Pacific MD Gerard McMahon said, “We are delighted to have been recognised yet again for our commitment to training and development of young people. As an employee-owned business, it is critical to continually develop our own talent to meet the growing demands of the construction industry.”

In November 2022, Pacific secured its first Gold accreditation when the firm was confirmed as just one of just six organisations in Scotland to be honoured.

The company became an employee-owned business in January 2019, which means every staff member is a beneficiary of an Employee Ownership Trust, which owns Pacific Building Ltd on behalf of all employees now and in the future.

The firm operates within a variety of sectors including commercial, leisure, healthcare and retail.
