ROBERTSON has received the Gold Award in the ‘Building & Construction: Energy Reduction’ category at this year’s Green Apple Environment Awards.

The awards, held at the Houses of Parliament in London, recognise and promote environmental best practice around the world.

Robertson was honoured for the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility.

Demonstrating strong carbon reduction leadership within its sector, the company revealed it has made significant strides in decarbonising its business, supply chain and projects. Robertson became one of the first UK businesses in the built environment to achieve carbon neutrality in 2018 and has achieved ‘climate positive’ status well ahead of its net zero 2030 target.

Having previously delivered energy-saving projects across the UK, Robertson continues to support the reduction of energy consumption in the built environment whilst championing local and national government targets.

Robertson Facilities Management has delivered reductions to carbon emissions and energy bills through its Newcastle schools decarbonisation programme. This has helped the local authority access funding and deliver measures including fabric upgrades, systems replacements and renewables.

Robertson Construction Tayside recently delivered the Passivhaus Riverside Primary School. The school is said to deliver a 75% reduction in energy use compared to a traditional design and construction.

Graeme Hannah, director of sustainability and social impact at Robertson Group, said, “To accelerate delivery on a green and just transition, we are embracing and upholding environmental best practices within our industry. Through our projects, initiatives and expertise, we are an industry leader in driving a carbon positive and sustainable future.

“Our family of businesses collectively ensure that we maintain environmental best practice. We have been working hard across our projects and with our customers to reduce energy consumption, so we are delighted that this has been recognised.”

The award means Robertson has become a Green World Ambassador and will receive automatic entry into the Green World Awards in Brazil next year.
