PUPILS were celebrating their first day at the new £23 million Greyhope School and Community Hub in Aberdeen yesterday.

The new school, which is located on the former Torry Academy site at Tullos Circle, was delivered by Hub North Scotland, with Morrison Construction Building North East as the main contractor, and Halliday Fraser Munro as architects.

Replacing Walker Road School, the facility has room for up to 434 primary pupils and 100 early learning and nursery places. The hub will host a range of essential services including housing support, community learning and health services, and a library and café.

“I am sure that it won’t be too long before the community hub is a hive of activity with people able to access key services on their doorstep.”

Councillor Jessica Mennie, vice-convener of the education and children’s services committee at Aberdeen City Council, said, “I was delighted to spend time with pupils and staff on what was a very exciting first day at the new Greyhope School and Community Hub. The building is a fantastic community asset for everyone living in the Torry area.”
