Open day visitors see ‘enhanced’ Portakabin capacity in Scotland

SITE accommodation specialist Portakabin has hailed the success of a recent open day at its latest depot on Westburn Farm Road in Cambuslang.

The team welcomed clients and visitors from businesses around the Glasgow area to the new offices, which are said to exceed building regulation thermal values using a fabric-first approach, photovoltaic (PV) panels, energy-managed welfare facilities, rainwater harvesting and electric vehicle charging points.

Portakabin experts from all over the UK were on hand to share their knowledge on modular construction, as well as offering guidance on additional products and services, planning control and sector specific intelligence.

The team also had a range of suppliers on hand from CabinPump, Jackpad and Welfare Hire to speak about how they work with Portakabin to expand the capabilities of their buildings and offer new products to the site accommodation market.

To show visitors the ‘afety and simplicity’ of the installation process, Portakabin showcased a low-level lift demonstration of a building being installed. Portakabinsaid it is the only modular building system that can be installed without the need to work on the roof – even in multi-storey configuration.

“We thoroughly enjoyed welcoming past and prospective customers to visit our new depot at Cambuslang,” said Mark Fox, divisional MD for Portakabin (site accommodation). Visitors were able to see first-hand, the enhanced capacity and scope of our operation in Scotland as well as the latest developments in quality and sustainability of our buildings.”

Site accommodation depot manager Glen Bilsland added, “With a record number of visitors in attendance, the event was a fantastic way to showcase this new depot and the extensive offering Portakabin can provide.”

The £1.75 million investment by Portakabin at Cambuslang has doubled the size of its operation there to create a purpose-built refurbishment and refit centre with a new workshop and a range of buildings to showcase. The centre – one of ten dedicated site accommodation sites across the UK – will serve the whole of Scotland.
