Work underway on build of Isle of Skye homes

CONSTRUCTION is underway on the build of eight new homes for private sale in the Isle of Skye.

Inverness-based contractor, Compass Building Construction Services, is leading the build of the mix of three-bedroom chalet homes, two-bedroom flats, and two-bedroom villas. Properties range in fixed price between £155,000 to £250,000.

The properties, which are to be located within the Campbell’s Farm development, are supported by Scottish Government funding and will be offered to the market via a priority purchase scheme.

Allocation for the homes will be managed by HHA on behalf of Compass Building and Construction Services, with prospective buyers required to complete an application for consideration.

Andrew MacMaster, design build and proposals manager at Compass Building and Construction Services, said, “The number of ‘affordable’ homes for private sale on Skye continues to decline, particularly as appetite for second-home ownership on the island rises. This has created a highly competitive market for local residents who seek high-quality and well-priced homes.

“We are confident that the delivery of eight new homes through the priority purchase scheme at Campbell’s Farm will substantially benefit the local community by helping people currently in social housing and first-time buyers to join the property ladder.

“With support from Scottish Government, we look forward to allocating the homes and creating a vibrant new community in Broadford that will enjoy great connectivity to the village and local amenities via new footpaths and transport links, thanks to wider investment from Lochalsh & Skye Housing Association.”
