A Moray school found to contain RAAC has temporarily closed after remedial work indicated the concrete presents a ‘higher level of risk’ than first thought.
Following new information from Fairhurst, which is carrying out remedial works on Forres Academy on behalf of Moray Council, the local authority said that the RAAC at the school ‘now appears to indicate a higher level of risk’.
However, the local authority added that there is ‘no indication of deterioration to the RAAC panels within the school and the change of level has been dictated by a change of advice and guidance received from the contractors’.
The school will close for the remainder of this week to allow for the local authority to review its plans and prepare to implement contingency measures.
