THE JR Group has partnered with Stirling Council for the first time on a new housing development at Glasgow Road in the city.
The site will comprise a collection of one and two-bedroom cottage flats to replace the current flatted building in the St. Ninians’s area of Stirling.
Energy-efficient features include a zero-gas air exhaust system, triple glazed windows, and photovoltaic (PV) panels along with battery storage. It will be achieving platinum level for carbon emission reduction.
Designed with a ‘contemporary feel whilst using traditional materials’, The JR Group revealed the development will have a timber kit construction and comprise a mix of colours and smooth facing brick/masonry along with render façades with weather board cladding feature panels.
Gary McGregor, MD for The JR Group, said, “Beginning work at the Glasgow Road development in Stirling is a new chapter for both the area and our team. We are delivering energy efficient, attractive homes which are much needed within the local area and have been designed to sit nicely within the locale.
“This is our first project with Stirling Council so we are excited to get started and bring to life a great vision for a fantastic new place to live in a bustling part of the city. We are using our own specialist divisions within our group to deliver this project including Specialist Services, Scaffold, Sprinklers Scotland Ltd and our own timber kit business DC Timber, to ensure the project runs smoothly, and we look forward to seeing the project progress.”
Councillor Gerry McGarvey, convener of Stirling Council’s community wellbeing and housing committee, added, “Increasing the supply of council homes is one of our key priorities, so I’m delighted to see work getting underway on this project that will deliver high-quality, energy-efficient homes in an area of Stirling where there is high demand for social housing. We have a strong track record in delivering new affordable housing and we’ll continue to work with private developers, as well as building our own homes, to meet the needs of our communities across Stirling.”
