HOUSEBUILDER Springfield Properties has signed a Minute of Agreement with Transport Scotland, allowing works to begin on the Swallow roundabout near its Dykes of Gray village development in Dundee.

The firm explained that finalising the design and improvement plans for the roundabout has been a ‘complex’ project involving a number of stakeholders, including Dundee City Council and Transport Scotland. The Minute of Agreement has been described as the ‘culmination of extensive work and liaison’ between the parties and represents a ‘pivotal’ stage for the junction work.

The junction upgrades will include the installation of traffic lights, better pedestrian access and increasing the number of lanes. Work is due to start later this year, with an anticipated completion date of autumn 2024.

Dykes of Gray is located to the west of Dundee. It is already home to over 750 residents, a convenience store and a number of play parks. When complete, the village will also include other business opportunities, such as a nursery and a café.

Innes Smith, CEO of Springfield Properties, said, “Dykes of Gray is one of our standout village developments and is already a popular place to live, with the amenities that the village offers itself, together with its award-winning public realm. Our commitment to delivering the upgrades to the junction has never wavered, however it was crucial that we secured the necessary approvals and agreements with other key stakeholders. Now the Minute of Agreement has been signed, we can make meaningful progress which will see the roundabout improved for the local community.”
