PACIFIC Building has secured two major tourist hotel refurbishment projects worth a combined £11 million.
Works are underway at the Holyrood Hotel and Mount Royal Hotel, which are both high-profile stopovers for visitors to Edinburgh.
At the Holyrood – on Holyrood Road, near the Scottish Parliament – 158 guest bedrooms will be refurbished for clients Gateway Hotels, including associated corridors, flooring, decoration, furniture and bathroom upgrades. The project also comprises a renovation of the hotel’s public areas, including the reception, lobby bar, lounges and restaurants.
On Princes Street, the Mount Royal (previously called the Mercure Edinburgh) will see 156 guest bedrooms refurbished, together with associated corridors, flooring, decoration, furniture and bathroom upgrades. Both projects incorporate manufactured joinery, which will be fabricated and delivered by Pacific’s in-house workshop team.
The hotel upgrades come on top of other commissions this year across the travel, hospitality and retail sectors. They include two completions for food and drink outlet operators SSP – the Bridge & Castle at Edinburgh International Airport and The Spinning Jenny at Glasgow International Airport. Also at Edinburgh, Pacific delivered the new World Duty Free Express store.
This past year has also seen the company hand over a second project for cosmetic surgery specialists Cosmedicare at St Ellen’s Hospital in Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, having earlier delivered their new clinic in Livingston.
Finally, Pacific has continued its association with McDonald’s, with the delivery of a new restaurant at Broadwood Farm in Cumbernauld and the refurbishment of the previously existing Coatbridge outlet. The business will shortly commence work on another new-build restaurant in Motherwell as well as refurbishing another Lanarkshire restaurant in Hamilton.
A Pacific spokesman said, “We are delighted to further expand our presence in the hotel sector with these two prestigious projects. Whether it’s an imposing country house establishment, a city centre landmark location or a smaller hotel in a tourist hot spot, we have helped some of the best-loved brands maintain or improve their image and their offerings to expectant and loyal clientele through the various major refurbishment programmes that we have masterminded.
“Allied to an impressive array of commissioned works at in other sectors at other locations, we are looking forward to a busy and fruitful summer.”
