HARDIES Property & Construction Consultants has announced the appointment of Peter O’Brien as a partner and building surveyor in its London office.

He has over 30 years of broad-spectrum surveying experience, working across all aspects of building surveying within multi-disciplinary teams and delivering project management services on multi-layered projects in all commercial sectors.

Having graduated from De Montfort University in Leicester, he began his career in consultancy where he worked for national surveying firms, on both private and public sector projects. He worked subsequently on the contracting side of the industry, specialising in commercial office spaces and national roll-out programmes.

Peter O’Brien said, “I’m greatly looking forward to playing a key role in the company’s growth plans, using my industry knowledge with the Hardies team to realise its growth potential across the south of England in this its 110th year.

“With the full breadth of construction consultancy services on offer, together with an established UK-wide client base, I’m excited by the opportunity to expand the London office and, to that end, am actively recruiting a range of property experts to service our anticipated expanding client base across the south of England.”

Colin Harrop, Hardies’ managing partner, added, “Peter brings with him in-depth knowledge and experience of the London property market gained over several decades and, as such, we are delighted to secure his services. His appointment means that we are now able to offer the full range of professional services that we are renowned for providing elsewhere in Britain to the south of England and can offer out national clients a hands-on presence throughout the length and breadth of the UK.”

Hardies partner Joe Madden, who will work alongside Peter to grow the London office, commented, “While each of our local offices enjoys strong local client relationships together with a number of UK-wide major clients, we have identified a large sector of potential clients that we are now seeking to target actively in the south of England, particularly through providing property and construction consultancy services for institutions, investors, pension funds, asset managers and fund managers, where we see tremendous growth potential.”
