A variety of sub-contracting opportunities on two multi-million pound contracts are to be showcased at a meet the buyer event in Aberdeen.

Aberdeen City Council is inviting local businesses to attend the event on September 4 from 10-11:30am at the Town House.

The event will focus on two projects being led by Robertson Construction, with opportunities available on the £24.8 million Riverbank School replacement build and £27 million construction of the ONE SeedPod food and drink innovation hub.

Robertson Construction said it is interested in meeting suppliers offering expertise across a broad range of disciplines including groundworks, joinery, masonry, electrical, architecture, landscaping, and internal works.

The local authority added that its meet the buyer event, delivered by its city growth service, will enable local businesses to find out about sub-contracting opportunities associated with both developments and to meet with the Robertson team to discuss tendering opportunities ahead of a networking session.

Aberdeen City Council co-leader, councillor Christian Allard, said, “Aberdeen City Council has an ongoing commitment to improving the school estate and the continued inclusive economic growth of the city. This Meet the Buyer event demonstrates our commitment, ensuring that our businesses and people can benefit from major public and private sector investments.

“Local businesses can secure significant contracts through Meet the Buyer activity, and I encourage all those with an interest in this area to attend the event and learn first-hand about the wide range of opportunities on offer to them.”

Gordon Milne, regional MD of Robertson North East, said, “As part of our commitment to the areas where we have projects, we seek to work with local supply chain where possible. Our projects go beyond delivering for our customers, they are an important part of bolstering the local economy through local spend where appropriate. We look forward to meeting potential new suppliers and discussing opportunities.”
