Contractor tees up charity donation with annual golf day

THE JR Group has raised more than £3,500 for Beatson Cancer Charity during an annual golf networking event, which this year took place in memory of treasured colleague John McEwan.

50 guests, including suppliers, business partners and subcontractors, attended the event hosted by the Paisley-based contractor at Pollok Golf Club.

Participants competed for the newly established John McEwan Memorial Cup. John, who a valued colleague and friend of The JR Group, passed away earlier this year after a short illness and the team felt it fitting to name the tournament and winner’s cup in his memory. John’s family presented the first winner of the cup with their prize.

All funds raised are being donated to Beatson Cancer Charity, which supports people affected by cancer.

John Horne, MD of The JR Group, said, “It was great to once again host our annual JR Group Golf Day and unveil the John McEwan Memorial Cup, which we felt was a fitting tribute to our dear colleague and friend. It was a real honour to have John’s family with us and have them present the winner on the day with the trophy which will become an annual tradition in his memory.

“Supporting charity and giving back where we can, is at the very core of our business, so it is fantastic we were able to raise £3,500 for an amazing cause – the Beatson Cancer Charity.

“We hope that this donation will help to support those affected by cancer, as well as aid the charity to fund vital research towards one day finding a cure. I’d like to thank everyone who took part in our John McEwan Memorial Golf event and supported our fundraising for Beatson.”
