LINKWOOD Primary School in Elgin hosted its first ‘Colour Run’ to raise funds for the development of a new playground in an event sponsored by Springfield Properties.
More than 400 local residents showed their support, raising £2,000 and counting.
Stretching over 2km, the trail saw five colour stations positioned throughout where volunteers threw brightly coloured powder at the participants as they ran by. Other activities included inflatables, beat the goalie, face painting, a raffle draw, and hot food from Calum’s Kitchen
Andrea Robertson, a member of the Linkwood Family Forum, was fundamental in arranging the event. She said, “We were really excited to host our first ever Colour Run to help raise money for the school’s playground. While Linkwood Primary is still a new school, it already has a thriving community spirit. We’ve not had many opportunities to hold large scale events like this since the school opened so we were delighted to get such a good turnout.”
Megan Black, community engagement coordinator at Springfield Properties, added, “The Linkwood Primary School Colour Run was a great success, with the funds raised helping the school upgrade its playground with all involved having a great day in the process. We are proud to have supported the local community, who rallied with good spirits to donate money and time to the project. Springfield Properties is proud to sponsor this event, and hope it will be the first of many.”
