Housebuilder looks to clean up with community initiatives

CALA Homes (West) is helping to play its part in the Stepps community following a successful litter pick in the area surrounding its Earls Rise development.

As part of its Community Pledge initiative, members of the Cala team helped collect 17 bags of litter in the North Lanarkshire community.

Liana Canavan, sales and marketing director of Cala Homes (West), said, “Cala is proud to be part of the Stepps community now that our Earl’s Rise development has fully launched including our two brand-new showhomes. This litter pick is the first of many steps to reinforce of our commitment to the local community.

“Looking after the communities that we build in is very important especially as this is part of our ongoing Community Pledge initiative which will run for the full lifecycle of our Earls Rise development.”

Meanwhile, Cala Homes (North) has donated £400 to Cults Primary School after 80 pupils took part in the Cults Easter egg hunt during the recent holidays.

The housebuilder, which is currently building at the nearby Friarsfield West development, partnered with local businesses on North Deeside Road to host an Easter egg hunt throughout the village. Pupils had to find all ten numbered eggs in the windows of the businesses to be in with a chance of winning an Easter egg.

For every completed entry, Cala donated £5 to the local school.

Emma Gelati, marketing manager at Cala Homes (North), said, “We’re thrilled that we were able to bring back our well-loved Cults Easter egg hunt, and it’s wonderful that so many children took part. As always, we are proud to support Cults Primary School.”

Morven McKay, headteacher at Cults Primary, added, “We are very grateful for the kind donation from Cala Homes this year. Having an activity to participate in during the holidays is positive for all within our community and with the donation that follows, demonstrates an active partnership that we value with Cala and the school.  We will utilise the money donated by purchasing a class set of headphones, allowing our learners to access their Chromebook devices, fully utilising any sound and/or volume they may require within a classroom setting.”
