Construction work begins on new Westhill community

CALA Homes (North) has announced work is underway on a new 50-home development at Burnland, Westhill.

The move follows planning approval from Aberdeenshire Council earlier this year.

The new community will include four and five-bedroom detached homes as well and one, two and three-bedroom affordable properties.

Cala revealed the development is being created with sustainability in mind, with features including EV charging points and biodiversity measures such as living fences, swift blocks, bat boxes and hedgehog highways. There will also be an enhanced green space to commemorate local community figure, Elsie Duguid.

Ross Maclennan, land director at Cala Homes (North), said, “We’re very pleased to have begun work on our new community in Westhill. These new homes will incorporate some of the sustainability measures we are introducing across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire to reduce the carbon impact of our developments and help our customers live more sustainably.

“The site will also feature a commemorative space to mark the life of Elsie Duguid, who once lived on the farm at Burnland and was a well-known figure in the area thanks to her extensive charity and community work. We are looking forward to seeing the development take shape over the coming months.”
