THE owner of Glasgow’s Buchanan Galleries has partnered with Possibilities for Each and Every Kid (PEEK) to create opportunities for young people to enter employment in the real estate sector.
Landsec and PEEK announced the partnership, which is funded by Landsec Future. The programme is the firm’s new £20 million social impact programme which will aim to bring more value to the communities where it invests.
Together, Landsec, PEEK, and the Ahead Partnership will deliver education and work experience-led programmes for people in Glasgow to increase access to the range of careers in the real estate industry.
Landsec will work with PEEK to engage early school leavers to build skills and confidence, expand their CVs, gain accreditation, and support them into further education or employment. Landsec will also support Ahead Partnership to deliver an enterprise project for young people to create a vision for the future of retail.
In the last year, Landsec’s partnerships with PEEK and the Ahead Partnership has already supported 40 young people into the world of work. With a renewed partnership, backed by an increase of investment and longer-term support, Landsec said it hopes to have an even greater impact in the local area.
Nick Davis, head of retail development at Landsec, commented,“Investing in those already creating opportunities for local people means we can bring more value to the communities we serve where it’s needed most. Through our new programme with Ahead Partnership and PEEK, we’ll support more people from underrepresented backgrounds into employment, working with local young people to build their employability skills and increase access to employment opportunities so that everyone can fulfil their potential.”
Stephanie Burras, CEO of Ahead Partnership, added,“We’re delighted to be able to deepen and extend the rewarding partnership that we have enjoyed with Landsec over the last seven years. The exciting skills and employability activities we have delivered with Landsec’s retail teams across the country, including mentoring and Made In sustainability challenges, have equipped hundreds of young people with the confidence and skills they need to succeed.
“Our new three-year partnership with Landsec Futures will allow us to scale and deepen the impact of these successful school programmes. We look forward to working with Landsec colleagues to provide opportunity to many more young people.”
